Η Αγγελική Κοτταρίδη για το Βασιλικό Γυμνάσιο της Μίεζας

 Το βασιλικό γυμνάσιο της Μίεζας, το εκπληκτικό εκπαιδευτικό ίδρυμα/οικοδομικό συγκρότημα που δημιούργησε ο Φίλιππος Β΄ για να διαμορφωθεί η πολιτική και πνευματική ηγεσία

του μέλλοντος, ο τόπος όπου ο Αριστοτέλης δίδαξε τον Μεγαλέξανδρο και τους νεαρούς Μακεδόνες που έγιναν ηγέτες της Οικουμένης, έρχεται στο φως με προσοχή, κόπο και αφοσίωση... Τα ευρήματα ήδη ξεπερνούν τις προσδοκίες μας, τα νέα του άρχισαν ήδη να ταξιδεύουν στον κόσμο!...

The Royal Gymnasium of Mieza is emerging from the earth — slowly, carefully, and with extraordinary dedication. This remarkable educational institution and architectural complex was created by Philip II to shape the political and intellectual leadership of the future. This is the very place where Aristotle taught Alexander the Great and the young Macedonians who would go on to become leaders across the known world.

And now, more than 2,300 years later, we are bringing this extraordinary place back to light. The discoveries are already exceeding our expectations. And the story of Mieza has begun to travel far beyond the excavation itself — reaching audiences around the world.

Through these photographs, you can step into the daily life of our excavation: the work, the discoveries, the challenges, and the moments when the ancient world suddenly emerges before our eyes.

This is a team effort. Alongside me in the field research team are archaeologists Maria Parziali and Dr. Tasos Kakamanoudis. Our scientific research team includes Dr. Anastasia Georgiadou and Professor Panagiotis Iossif.

Emeritus Professor Grigoris Tsokas and his team are carrying out geophysical surveys, helping us explore what lies beneath the ground. Field conservation is in the capable and ever-present hands of conservator Aggeliki Georgiadou, assisted by conservator Stergios Pitoulias.

And throughout this entire effort, we have the invaluable support of the Mayor of Naousa, Nikos Koutsogiannis.
